Wellness Is More Than One Appointment
Hello and happy November everyone~
When life gets busy, it is tempting to look for one thing that will make us feel more balanced. In my experience, a healthy lifestyle is built through small choices repeated over time: enough rest, nourishing food, movement, connection, and opportunities to slow down. I also enjoy exploring wellness modalities that encourage me to pause and pay attention to how I feel.
Four experiences I offer or share with clients are biofeedback, reflexology, raindrop massage, and the Energy Enhancement System. Each offers a different way to make room for self-care. None replaces medical advice or the everyday habits that support health, but each can be part of a thoughtful wellness routine.
Exploring My Side Modalities
Biofeedback: Getting Curious About Your Body
The Indigo Biofeedback device monitors electro dermal response to display information about physical responses, such as breathing patterns, muscle tension, or heart rate. Seeing that information in real time can help you practice skills like slower breathing or relaxing tense muscles. I appreciate its focus on awareness: rather than guessing how your body is responding, you have information you can use as you learn.
This particular device focuses on muscle retraining, brain wave relaxation, and the reduction of pain and stress in the body overall. Some issues that people might seek my help in include: sleep issues, hormone balancing, enhanced mental clarity and improved attention, increased muscle flexibility, migraines and back pain. (just to name a few)
Reflexology: A Pause from Head to Toe
- Reflex Map: Practitioners view the feet as a detailed map where different areas, zones, and pressure points correspond to specific organs, glands, and systems throughout the body
- Targeted Pressure: Unlike a general foot massage that uses broad soothing strokes, reflexology uses specific thumb, finger, and knuckle techniques to apply alternating or sustained pressure to these defined points.
- Energy Flow: The practice is rooted in the idea that stimulating these points helps clear blocked energy pathways, reduce stress, and encourage the body's natural state of balance and self-healing.
- Consultation: A typical session lasts 60 minutes, beginning with the practitioner asking about your health history, lifestyle, and any current areas of discomfort.
- Relaxed Setting: You remain fully clothed while lying on a massage table, with oil applied to the feet and lower legs.
- Sensation: While the pressure should be firm enough to feel, it is not meant to be sharp or painful, though tender spots may correspond to areas of tension or imbalance in the body.
Raindrop Massage: Making Time for Bodywork
Raindrop massage is a structured, hands-on wellness session that offers time to unwind and reconnect with yourself. One of the things I value about bodywork is how it invites us to notice our shoulders, back, and breathing instead of rushing straight to the next task.
It consists of using 9 different Young Living essential oils first on your feet then on your spine. We drop the oils one at a time along the spine and follow it with a unique massage technique for each oil. A warm compress is applied on the back to facilitate pushing the oils deep into the muscle. It ends with a lymphatic drainage modality and a glass of water infused with minerals to ground you.
The Energy Enhancement System: Space to Be Still
The Energy Enhancement System is another option people ask me about. I think of a session as dedicated time in a technology-assisted wellness space where I can put distractions aside, sit comfortably, and rest. That quiet time can be valuable in a week that rarely slows down. It offers scalar wave and biophotonic light therapy and has been known to help at a cellular level. These sessions have been known to help balance the hormones, decrease pain, improve sleep patterns and reset the nervous system. One thing I like to demonstrate is a live blood cell analysis to show how your blood looks before and after a session. It is quite remarkable when a client can witness that for themselves.
Healthy Habits That Help the Rest of Life Feel Better
Wellness appointments are only one piece of the picture. The habits between them often matter most. Here are a few simple practices I come back to:
- Move in ways you enjoy. Walking, stretching, dancing, or gardening can make movement easier to fit into your day.
- Build meals around variety. Include fruits or vegetables, satisfying sources of protein, and foods that help you feel fueled.
- Protect your sleep routine. Try a consistent bedtime and give yourself a little screen-free time to wind down.
- Drink water regularly. Keep it within reach, especially when your schedule gets full.
- Make room for people. A conversation with a friend or a shared meal can bring a welcome connection to an ordinary week.
- Practice small pauses. A few slow breaths or a short break outside can help you step away from autopilot.
- Meditate. I have been practicing this regularly every evening and I am sleeping way better and handling stressful situations easier.
Choose What Supports You
There is no perfect wellness routine. You may love one modality, prefer another, or find that the most helpful step right now is simply getting to bed earlier. My hope is to offer welcoming ways to explore, ask questions, and make choices that fit your life. Start with one manageable habit, notice how you feel, and build from there.
